Richelle Brookman is Director and co-Owner of GWB Entertainment, producing the Australian debut production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock the musical. This musical premiered in Melbourne in 2018 and has toured China, Brisbane, Auckland, South Korea- now playing in Sydney, before heading to Adelaide in April 2020. School of Rock really is a musical and rock concert and you’ll hear Richelle tell you things you didn’t know about this musical, the tour and casting children performers (aged 9-12 years old), many of them quadruple-threats.

The 10th anniversary Australian tour of Billy Elliot the musical has opened at the Sydney Lyric Theatre and I was thrilled to speak to Justin Smith (Dad) and Drew Livingston (Tony). Justin Smith returns to the musical, having a special bond with the original Australian production and Drew Livingston makes his Lyric Theatre debut. Muriel & Rhonda! Muriel's Wedding the Musical, is a new Australian musical produced by Global Creatures (Moulin Rouge, King Kong, Strictly Ballroom) and it is a smash hit! The musical is based on the 1994 movie of the same name, the book is written by PJ Hogan (who wrote/directed the movie), original lyrics and music (Kate Miller-Heidke,Keir Nuttall) and ABBA songs. I was thrilled to sit down and chat to Natalie Abbott (Muriel) and Stefanie Jones (Rhonda). These two ladies are stepping into the spotlight as lead performers and they are both simply stunning! In fact, Natalie makes her professional debut as Muriel and was nominated for her first Helpmann Award and this is Stefanie's first lead role in a musical. This is a great interview, sharing stories behind the musical and Sydney filming locations from the original movie.
